Spelling words go home in the agenda each Monday and a quiz will be given each Friday.Ħ. Copies of stories read in class are made available to students to practice reading fluently.ĥ. Parents are asked to initial to verify that at least 20 minutes of reading occured each evening.
The student shows a parent completed homework and asks the parent to sign the agenda.Ĥ. The student completes the assignments to the best of his/her ability and only asks for help after having given his/her best effort.ģ. Assignments will be written in the agenda.Ģ. The agenda travels from school to home and back every school day. A team effort is important for your child's education.ġ. Thank you so much for your time and for your support. Your child's family, friends and teachers are all resources, but they need to use their own minds to complete the work. However, ultimately, all work should be the student's work. Occasionally, your child may need a reminder to get started, or even frequent assistance refocusing on the assignment. We offer homework as a means of practicing skills that were taught in class. Every year, parents ask us how much help they should offer their child in completing homework. Sometimes they appear to grasp a concept here in class, but forget what to do by the time they reach home. If your child has a hard time or is unable to complete the work due to apparent lack of understanding after giving it his or her best effort, please jot a note in the agenda and let us know so we can remediate. We will provide the time and the information: It is your child's responsibility to record the information and gather all supplies. Please be sure your child cleans it out daily. Please note that this folder will contain homework assignments as well as any correspondence or notes from school. Your child also has a designated homework folder that should come home every evening with the agenda. This will help to alert you to work that is due the next day. Research has shown that children who read regularly have better achievement!Įach afternoon, your child will have the opportunity to write down the evening homework assignments in his or her agenda.
